Discussion of your health history

Before we do an osteopathic exam, we will talk in depth about your current and past health  concerns, life challenges, environment, nutrition, and general wellness. This process always reveals important insights about the right treatment approaches for you.  If you have any reports that are pertinent to your health or medical issues, such as laboratory, radiograph and MRI reports, specialist consultations or previous treatments, please bring a copy of these to your first visit.

What to wear

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing as your treatment will include hands-on osteopathic treatment if discussed and indicated. You will not need to disrobe for the initial physical exam or subsequent osteopathic manipulation treatments.  Please refrain from wearing perfumes or other strong fragrances.

A full osteopathic exam

An osteopathic exam takes a comprehensive look at how your muscles, joints, bones, nerves and organs are positioned and working together. This can tell us things like whether rib cage position is inhibiting lung function or whether hip misalignment might be contributing to chronic headaches. Most patients find the assessment process to be very relaxing and supportive.

Creating a treatment plan

After a complete history, physical and osteopathic examination, an complete evaluation and osteopathic treatment will be provided to begin a treatment process for whatever your specific symptoms and conditions are. This plan will be discussed at length as part of your first visit, and as a part of subsequent visits.

Office environment

Our goal is to create an environment that is peaceful and nurturing for our patients. We therefore ask that cell phones be turned off while you are in the office. We also ask that you refrain from wearing any perfume, cologne or other strongly fragrant products, as well as refrain from smoking prior to your appointment, as some of our patients have chemical sensitivities or respiratory problems. In order for you to receive the best treatment possible, please consider arranging childcare for young children as they may have difficulty being patient while their parent is being treated.

Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact us at least twenty-four hours in advance, as this gives time for the patients on our waiting list the opportunity to use your appointment time. It is our office policy to charge for a missed appointment.
